Ahsahka Log Contractor Dies Of Heart Attack

      AHSAHKA - Luther Profitt, 64, of Ahsahka died late Friday night in his home of an apparent heart attack.

     Profitt was self-employed as a logging contractor and was in the cedar pole business. he was a former employee of the Carney Pole Co. in Ahsahka.

     He was born on Sept. 6, 1908.

     Profitt married Myrtle Dodge on May 7, 1928. He was a member of the Ascension Lutheran Church of Orofino.

     He is survived by his widow and five children, Mrs. Jean Daniels, Lewiston; Mrs. Betty Kessler, Spokane; Donald Profitt, Orofino; Robert Profitt, Lewiston and Jerry Profitt, Grangeville.

     Other survivors include his mother, Mrs. Maggie Menapace, Baker, Ore.; three brothers, John Profitt, Baker, Ore. and Earl and Leonard Profitt, Myrtle, Ida.; one sister, Ethyl Slaton, Lewiston; two half-brothers, Leo Profitt, Seattle and Virgil Profitt, Montana; two half-sisters, Mary Myers, Lewiston and Mrs. Virginia Lee, Weippe; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

     Funeral services will be held Monday at the Ascension Lutheran Church, Orofino. The Rev. Wendall Stakkested will officiate.

     Burial will be at the Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens at noon on Monday.
